It was a picture perfect day in ATL. It was in the mid 70's {unheard of for July in GA!} and it was just beautiful. We enjoyed burgers, homemade ice cream and games and just had a grand time laughing together. Before we ate our lunch, Keith and Mattie surprised Nan with her very own custom University of Kentucky {my Nan is from KY} Cornhole set {built by Keith and painted by Mattie!}!!! She was soooo excited! And so now we have two sets for our Sunday afternoons at Nan's..Keith and Mattie have UNC ones {eewww}. Anyway, check out my sweet Nan's face~

We played Cornhole for a couple of hours...Keith and I dominated and were never beat. Though I must say, he carried us. I did okay, but he is the master of Cornhole. Unstoppable. Actually, my aunts are conspiring to beat him before the summer is out. We'll see how that goes. I'd love for it to happen {lol!}, but honestly, my money's on Keith.
The kids enjoyed some watermelon as you can plainly see. Especially Joel. He was in my lap so it's out of focus...but you can see it dripping from his chin! The girls were scarce a lot of the day...off playing with cousins. But Joel, he just made his rounds...shooting a basketball, playing with a rugby ball...and of course, he swiped a cell phone. I think he may have actually called somebody! But Kevin and Deanna didn't seem to mind, and I adore this picture of the three of them.

Long about 6:30, we decided to play some wiffle ball in the front yard. We didn't really have a wiffle ball with us but Joel's little Diego set worked fine. It was basically the ladies vs everybody else. My aunts Jill and Stacy, Mattie and I were a team. Then Keith, my cousin Austin, and the kids {Kennedy, Sydney, and my cousins} were the other team. It was hilarious. I'm proud to say us ladies won 13-9. I haven't laughed that much in a long time. My mom had my camera but didn't realize the dial had been moved to the wrong mode so the pics are all really out of focus. But these two came out...Here is our victory hug, where we sang "We Are the Champions" really loudly and really, really out of tune. In true Keith form, he came over to lick us {ick. I HATE when he does that.}

We had a great day with family and then capped it off with some fireworks. A local church spends like a gazzillion dollars on a 4th of July fireworks show {don't get me started. Well, actually, so you know, 4 {FOUR} orphans just like our Joel could have come home for what that church reportedly spent! Crazy sad.} But we gathered in a friend's yard with a view to these all important fireworks. It was a good show, but I left feeling a bit down when I learned how much they cost.

Hope you all had a wonderful 4th celebrating our freedom! Praise the Lord for the sacrifices of many so that we all could enjoy the blessings of liberty.

We had friends in ATL around this time frame, and they came home insisting it wasn't hot. I didn't fully believe them until you've corrobated.
I've never played cornhole, but I keep seeing it popping up everywhere. Looks like I need to learn a new game!
