I've had myself all too busy even though SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER!!! That means pool time, cleaning stuff that was completely overdue {Like our basement. Yikes!} and painting the laundry room {Peeps, it was in dire need. Dire, I say!}. Oh, and buying a new {to us} van.
I'll give you a minute to digest that.
I'm now driving a minivan.
I know.
It came as a shocker to me, too. I never pictured myself behind the wheel of a minivan. It's okay. We'll get through it together.
Seriously though, we bought an '05 Honda Odyssey Touring. We got a STEAL of a deal on it. Can't believe what we paid. Yeah, it still hurt a little a lot to write the check. But it was a fantastic deal not to mention a real need. I've been driving an '01 Nissan X-Terra for years. It's been good to us. And I was actually happy to continue with it...but three children in the back of an X-Terra for any length of time, can be likened to having ones eyes gouged or nails ripped out. I. Kid. You. Not. I'm kinda proud of us. We made it 20 months with the three kiddos in that vehicle. I personally believe we deserve a medal.
Tara has been telling me for oh, about 19 months now, that we need an Odyssey. I started looking around and can I just say, the Odyssey must be the minivan of choice. At least in these parts it is. They are everywhere. I never noticed until we started trying to find one and man if I'd call about one on Monday, it'd be sold by Tuesday. Crazy!
So we've had the van for a mere 10 days and can I tell you all something?
I adore it.
What has this world come to? I mean I knew I wasn't bringing sexy back driving a ten year old X-Terra. That was plain to see. And that will surely not change now that I'm a minivan driving mama! But there is something to be said for a third row. For seats that don't touch each other! For a DVD player and dual climate control and remote control doors and easy to clean leather seats. Yes, my friends, it is well with my soul.
And the reason for that is not just superficial. Jase and I are praying and seeking the Lord in these days to see where He is leading us. We don't know if kiddo #4 and son #2 is out there for us. But if he is, we need a spot for him in the family vehicle...don't ya know? We are specifically praying about two options. Both of which scare the dookey out of me for different reasons.
The Lord may say "no". He may not lead us to #4 at all. He may just ask that we continue to advocate and speak out for the orphan. OR, He may say, "Go. Pluck another out for my Name and my glory."
So now we have a van. We have room for #4. And wherever He leads, it is well with my soul.

Okay, you're a trooper on the mini-van front. We are slowly proceeding with adoption #2 too (technically we're not eligible yet but we're headed down a slightly different path this time). We'll add your prayers to ours as it sounds like big decisions are being made in both households. But, I have to tell you, if God tells me I need a mini-van, I'm going to balk big time!
woot!!!!! We heart our mini van too!! Couldnt stomach paying for the Honda - but our Dodge Caravan rocks too. AND, the best part? There's plenty of room for #4 :)
praying for you!! Love & HUGS!

Well, let's see it, Mini-van Mama!!! :) I'm one of those, too! When you have oodles and oodles of kids, it's the best option!
