A new year, a new do~

So it's not technically a new year but it is a new school year. Specifically, tomorrow! Ah! Where did the summer go? Who knows? But I do know that my kids are ready. Ready for a routine and a schedule and something productive to do! Me? I'm not ready to have to get up in the morning and put a face on and be somewhere other than my living room...but I am really a better mama when I have a plan. I'm so boring. Not normally a fly by the seat of her pants kind of mama. So, I'm quite ready too. We like a plan around here. Even Jase is gearing up to teach our studennts at church tonight for the first time in a couple months. Yay! Things are getting back to normal for us...Uniforms are bought {again for Kennedy who continues to get both longer and lankier!} Supplies are labeled. Backpacks are loaded. We're all ready for tomorrow!

In keeping with all of this readiness, Sydney and I determined last week that she was in need of a haircut. Bless her. She has my hair. Brown and well, sometimes dull. We both also have a cow lick and a double crown. Argh. But, we are how God made us {ALIKE! :) } and we do what we can to spice things up sometimes where our do's are concerned.

So, to the salon we went. She and Kennedy have been begging for feathers {the latest craze for girls-if you're reading this in 2030!} and so we did that too. Yesterday, Syd and I headed down to one of the common areas of our neighborhood to snag a few shots of her new hair for FB. You know, so the grandparents and aunts and uncles could see her new sassy self. I told her to wear jeans. No go. I knew it was hot. But I also knew that we were headed to some high grass and well. She shoulda wore pants. That's all I'm saying!

We were only there ten minutes. Due in large part to the bug bites were were both getting. But it didn't matter. We grabbed a few shots of her new do both for family and posterity! She wasn't much for smiling. I happen to love serious shots, even for kids. But my girls take it to a new level...they really won't hardly smile anymore. I have to catch them in the act of smiling. They really never want to pose for me and smile. It's almost annoying! Still, here is my Syd. And it's quite clear, she looks more like me {though undoubtedly more beautiful than I could hope to be!} with every breath she takes.

On the way home {the whole 1/2 mile drive!}, she realized she had to "go"...so funny. So I had to take my time driving and then snap a shot of her in the car...you know, just to prolong the laughing we were having. I can't help it. It's a sickness. I have to torment her! She's such a great sport...love you, Syd!
