She had a sty. A painful and mean looking sty. :(
We waited until a little after 8 to wake the Tornado. And then we sat together, all five of us on the sofa, while Jase read the Christmas story to us from Luke 2. We prayed together as a family. It was quiet and sweet.
His Day indeed.
Then we sent the kids to our room to await the commencement of gift giving and getting. The majority of their gifts were wrapped. But some were too big and bulky and suited better for sitting out. {Thanks Mamaw and Papaw!}

The girls have been begging to have their room decorated again. It's been three years exactly. And well, they were 8 1/2 and 6 when that happened. So they've grown up a lot. Sigh. And so we painted last weekend...their bedroom and bathroom. They had no idea of the color of bedding or accessories they would be getting. I think we surprised them and exceeded their expectations! They got bedding, butterfly chairs, little tables, lamps, newly framed pictures of them with their friends, super soft sheets {from Joel!}, lounging pillows, new towels/rug/shower curtain for their bathroom, new winter coats and stuffed to the brim stockings!

Joel got a Razor 360 Big Wheel. This thing is so flippin' cool. He can ride it...but not to its full potential yet! I can't wait till he can! Trust this mama...it is some kind of fun! I know from a personal experience I had with it in the basement while he slept on Christmas Eve! He also got a few Wii games and a bike helmet {Thanks again Mamaw and Papaw!} as well as some movies and Star Wars toys and pajamas. Kennedy gave him a fishing game and Syd gave him a Batman DVD. He was loving life!

The kids also each got a snow saucer! We needed these last year when we had our first white Christmas! It was a balmy 60 degrees today though...still, they will come in handy sometime! The girls had lots of scarves and girly stuff in their stockings. Joel had a Darth Vader transformer, a movie and some little goodies in his.

We gobbled up our breakfast and got all cleaned up for church. It makes for a different Christmas when you go to church on the actual Day...but I do love it. There is something about being with God's people on His Day. Singing and worshipping Him because He came.
He came for us.
He didn't leave us to ourselves. And He won't leave us still.
"I will not leave you as orphans; I will come for you."
John 14:18
Beautiful, beautiful Son of God. Light of the World Emmanuel. God with us.
I love being in His house on Christmas Day.
After church, we came home to a baked ham and the fixins'. Then, a much needed nap for mama. So nice.
That evening, we headed over to the Tims' to spend a couple hours with them. We ate and laughed and the boys played and played together with their new toys. These Thai guys get along really well and it makes me so happy to watch them together.
We came home and got the kiddies to bed since we were headed to Jason's family get together the next morning! It was a wonderful, restful day. Spent with my babies and the love of my life. Celebrating Jesus and all Christmas has to offer.
