adoptive families :: check it out

So I am really excited about this post. Super, duper excited. Hang with me...you'll be glad you did.

I have a friend, Kimberly. Whom I love and who loves Jesus and who is an incredible artist. I mean, she's simply fantastic. She spent two years in India serving the Lord after college. Yeah, I'm old. She was in our ministry at church when we came here 9 years ago.

And now she's like, grown up and all. Sigh. I'm so old.

Kimberly has traveled literally all over the world...Italy for a semester, Japan, Thailand, India...you name it. Sweet girl has logged some serious sky miles! And her time in these countries has not only grown her in the faith and made her more like Jesus, but it has also fueled the fire of her outrageous talent.

And that got me to thinking.

I really, really wanted one of her Mehndi art pieces before she moves to Cali this summer for seminary.

Again, sigh.

Gonna miss her something fierce.

Then it hit me. I asked her to create an art piece for each of our boys. I showed her a jumping off point and then told her a bit of my small vision for the pieces. She said she could do it no problem.

Cause she's got mad skills, y'all.

Crazy, mad skills.

Have a look-see for yourself.

Your eyes do not deceive you...

That is Thailand above in blue, complete with a heart over Bangkok where our Joel spent the first three years of his sweet life. AND, as if the piece wasn't amazing enough, written to the left, in THAI mind you, is a verse of Scripture from John.

"I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you."
John 14:18

Gabe's is no less stunning...with a heart over Henan, the province where our precious baby was born and still lives, waiting for us to bring him home.  Below China, in MANDARIN {again, is she incredible or what?} is a verse from the book of Isaiah.

"I will bring your children from the east, and gather you from the west."
Isaiah 43:5

I was just blown away by the end result. I mean, aren't they gorgeous!?! Don't you need one of these for yourself? Or you babies from somewhere else in the world? If you do, get this! Here's the best part I think...If any of you follow Faith, Family, Adoption or are a FB friend of mine, tell Kimberly that I sent you to her and she will donate 10% of her proceeds to One Less Orphan! Ah!

Be still my heart.

For those of you who don't know, One Less Orphan {link to Facebook page by clicking the name} is the grant organization that my sister in law, Mattie, began to provide financial grants to adopting families.

Love it.

Absolutely love having these treasures for our sons. What a keepsake for them. And I really love knowing that Kimberly has caught the vision! That God calls looking after orphans, true religion. And that she is compelled to do her part by helping families just like us! WooHoo!

Do you need more convincing?

Check out these gorgeous pieces in closer detail...

So, aren't they lovely? They are completely custom...you chose the country, the scripture or any text, color, etc. They are 12X12 canvas. And they hang beautifully. Check it out...ours are in the living room so that guests can oooh and aaaah over them! :)

If you think you need to snag up one of these custom pieces for your child{ren}, visit Kimberly's Etsy Store here! {AzaadiArt} She would love to hear from you! Don't forget, tell her that I sent you over so that she will know you are helping to support One Less Orphan with your purchase!
