shopping and scenarios

So time is flying by. Some days I just feel like there needs to be a flurry of activity in our home. I'm a list maker and I've got my lists made already. But some of those things I can't do yet. They need to be done last minute.

Like not forgetting to pack underwear.

Stuff like that.

But man, even that I'd like to check off of my ever growing list.

Because who wants to forget their underwear at a time like this?

I have done the travel shopping though.

Hallelu-yer.

Yep, we've got toiletries and hand wipes and snacks for Gabe all at the ready. I need to get my hands a on a few prescriptions still...but that will require some phone calls and thoughtful pleading on my part. But other than those few things and some snacks for Jase and I, we are pretty prepared in that regard.

See what I mean?

I know travel is imminent because I just used my iPhone to take pictures for the blog. The non traveling Kam would have pulled out her Canon. But this lady, these days? She just went for the easy way. Don't judge me! lol

In addition to shopping, we're running scenarios in our minds constantly. Well, maybe not Jase. But I am.

And like a good wife, I'm sharing them with him.

Ahem.

I've always been the detail person in our adoption processes. He's the "Yes" man...Can we go here and get this notarized today? "Yes." Can you run by the bank and pick up a cashiers check in this amount? "Yes." Will you ask so and so to write a letter of reference for this and that? "Yes."

Whatever I ask him to do, he always replies with a sweet and thoughtful, "Yes."

But in all honesty, half the time, he has no idea why he's doing what he's doing other than the fact that I asked him to take care of it for our adoption. He's so supportive. He's so on board. He's just busy with a million other details in his everyday life, and I take care of these.

It's just when you get to this point, you've got to have more than one person at the helm. There's so much to consider. When could we realistically leave? When should we realistically leave? Which airline? How will the kids' school schedule play into things? What should we do about Joel?

So many unknowns. So many decisions to make. But the Lord is over them all. I've taught our 7th-8th grade girls in Sunday school for the last few weeks about how His will is not some mysterious thing you search for and stumbled across if you're lucky. It is given plainly in His Word.

Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.
(Romans 12:9-13 ESV)

If we obey and seek to follow His revealed will that is given to us in the Scriptures, we can be assured that the rest of His specific will for our individual lives will come to us as we live out these other things. His will is that we love others deeply and run from and take no part in evil and that we hold up in trouble knowing that He is our refuge, and that we pray continually and that we serve Him faithfully. When these aspects of His will are taken to heart and we genuinely strive to flesh them out daily, the tiny details of our lives will follow suit. I really believe that.

So while I'm checking ticket prices and hotel availability and wondering how our last bit of financial provision will be given...the Lord has determined what will be and how it will all happen with our trip. He has ordered each detail for our good and His glory. We are hopefully about 38 days or so from leaving. And knowing that He is steady and sure, and that His plans are trustworthy, is giving this mama lots of peace today!
