Because as bad as Tuesday was, today was fan tab u lous.
Joel looked at the same stinkin' site word game that took every bit of 45-50 minutes to complete two days ago, and knocked it out in 60 seconds this morning.
Halleluyer.
I'm telling you, homeschooling your children is such a draining and mind numbing task sometimes...but also, on days like today, one of the most rewarding feats I've ever attempted. Praise God for good days. Today was a really, really, REALLY good day. And I'm so grateful. Because at 7:45 this morning, I could not yet pull myself out from under the covers. So afraid that today may be a repeat of Tuesday with Joel. He didn't misbehave Tuesday. At all. He was fine.
It was just hard.
And I just didn't want today to be hard. So instead of getting out of bed, I grabbed my phone and read the Scriptures. You gotta love an iPhone with a one year daily reading plan. I dove into Genesis again and read about Isaac and Rebekah and their sons. The same passages that I've worked through countless times over the years. I love the story of Abraham's family. How the Lord graciously works through flawed and sinful humanity to accomplish His purposes.
I am flawed and sinful and not at all the teacher I could be for Joel. But I'm his mama. I'm the one whom the Lord has given him to...to raise and to love and for these days, to help educate. And so while Abraham and Sarah and Isaac and Rebekah have absolutely nothing to do with my parenting or homeschooling successes and failures...they offer me hope because I see the Lord work in the midst of them.
And He will work through me. Somehow, someway.
In keeping with my old choices made new, I took some real life pics of Joel this week. Not doing school work or struggling to read. :) But just being a little boy. One of his favorite things to do is have a "battle" with his men. And when I saw he was playing, I decided to once again, hop up and not miss it.
Life seems to drag on sometimes but most days are gone in an instant. I hope I'm freezing some of these moments just a bit. Stuff that they won't remember years from now and that I'll likely forget by tomorrow. We turned a corner for today. And I'm just grateful.

Just love those days when we're done early, and lessons go smoothly. But today...I'm battling the fatigue of a little one not remembering how to sound out vowels. What a silly struggle, but one that got me today!
:) Such a real post. Today my kids were done home-school by 12:30. We got up early and got on it. Yesterday it was 3:00 before they were done!
