It's been a hard year...for both of us. Teaching a little boy to read in kindergarten is tough stuff. Teaching one with language delays will make you kinda nuts. We've given it our best and Joel has come so far.
After much prayer and deliberation and changing our minds six times, we've decided to let him promote to 1st grade next year. He's not failing at all. He's just on that line. That line between. And it was an agonizing few days having to finalize our decision. Our school has been great and given us many insights...both for and against.
I still have a hard time settling it in my heart and mind whether we are making the best choice for him. Time will tell. But regardless, Joel will be okay. God will continue to be faithful and will use our efforts to bring glory to Himself...most days I hope!
After such a great day this week, we went to speech therapy and then ate lunch here at home with Jase and the other kiddies. Joel then asked if he could play a little bit of Wii upstairs. Of course! He'd been such a good boy and worked so diligently.
But after about an hour, with no Tornado in sight, I went to check. And found this...

Sweet boy. He's getting so big. SIX and a HALF as he would say! But he's still a baby. And babies need their naps sometimes. Sigh. How I adore this boy. Struggle or breeze, frustrated or at peace...we are in this schooling thing together. And I'm so blessed to be at the point where I can say that and mean it.

I'm thinking "good call" Kam, it's been my experience that most times kids will "play up" to their competition!
And love the new cover pic - wow that's cool!
hugs - aus and co.
