Sweet Gabe's healing took another set back last week and I called the surgeon to have a look. He agreed and just like that, two days later, we were in the big city today having a repeat of September. Only this time, the cath will stay in for six looooong weeks.
So with surgery #5 looming, I grabbed up my babies and said "let's snag some leaf pictures". I figured Kennedy would be a little less than thrilled. I just needed to do something silly. To take the edge off. Not that I was particularly afraid of today. Just dreading it for our Little Prince.
And so we took a few minutes and played. As suspected, Kennedy complained a teeny tiny HUGE bit about her brothers' idea of fall fun. But she managed to smile a few times as they relentlessly poured gobs of colored leaves atop her blonde head. It was quite comical. To me anyway.
As expected, Gabe's surgery went well today. Short and anything but sweet…still, necessary. We are grateful that there is a plan in place. Not only the surgeon's {which includes 2 additional reconstructions to begin in January}, but also the Lord's. Both are good. Whatever happens. However long it takes. The plans are good and we rest in that. Knowing that it's worth everything. That getting Gabe to the point where this is a distant memory {for us, and most hopefully for him that will not remember at all}, will someday happen. That the anesthesia that makes him so very sick will be over and that the cath will go away and never come back and that he will be whole.
Someday.
Yesterday was the day before.
Today is behind us.
To God be the glory, great things He has done.

Somehow I missed this. You guys have been through the wringer with so many "day befores." But what a great attitude you've maintained. Hugs and continued prayers to all.
