Let me be clear. Syd is not an avid reader. Kennedy is...she finished all four of her novels that were required for our summer reading in less than a week. She hasn't always been though. Her love of reading began in third grade. Sydney, not so much.
But just in the last week, it's like the girl can't get enough. Yesterday, she wanted me to take her back to the library to check out more books...not that we don't have a thousand of our own at her disposal. There's just something about going to the library and checking out a book. I remember that as a kid. Even now, I love being smack dab in the middle of a great read. I'm halfway through Silent Tears by Kay Bratt...it's my third time reading it. I can't manage to get away from the stories of those sweet babies in China and wonder if we will ever go there to bring one home. I'm having trouble finishing it right now 1) because I'm reading the Bible through again and it takes a good bit of my reading time. I'm about a month ahead of schedule with it but don't want to fall behind. And 2) because Silent Tears is pretty close to home right now with the way my head and heart are working overtime trying to sense God's leading in our family. But, I digress.
So I was passing through the kitchen this morning and found her at our table with a book. Oh, how I love these. I know, there are too many similar pictures here. But I couldn't help myself. It's not often Syd isn't posing...that I just catch her naturally. Of course after a shot or two {I stayed back at first}, she was onto me and I was able to move in more. Love, love, love this girl.

That last one cracks me up. She was clearly done with me and my camera. Still, it's a moment in time...a day in the summer life of our family. And I am happy to have caught it and her.

I love, love, love a reader!, love that you caught this moment!
Do you know I still haven't read Silent Tears? That and One Thousand Gifts just can't seem to get read despite the great things I repeatedly hear about them.
Many more happy summer days to all of you!
