Summer fighting~

So you know where this is going, don't you? Oh, will it eva stop? Probably not. But it seems Kennedy took matters into her own hands and drafted this contract. It's binding, ya'll. Air tight. Signatures in Sharpie...that tells you how serious she is.

Man oh, man. These two fight. They say things to cut each other to the quick. It hurts my heart but I know they are normal. I just had these really high aspirations {pipe dream as it may be} that my kids would not be normal. To be fair and brutally honest, I didn't have much good to say about my younger brother when we were kids. Oh, I'd fight to the death for him if YOU so much as looked at him the wrong way. I loved him dearly. I just couldn't let him know that of course and I was pretty stinkin' mean to him. Much of the time, that little stinker deserved it. He was a mama's boy through and through which was a source of contention...even though things were quite equal since I was clearly a daddy's girl. We fought and we fought and we fought. But you know something? I adore him now. A. Dore. Him. I look back at our childhood and all of my memories are wrapped up in my brother. We had far more good times than bad and we have a fantastic relationship now.

I was pretty naive. Hoping that since Kennedy and Sydney were both girls, they'd just be kind to each other and enjoy each other's company and live in beautiful harmony from the get go. That they would not mess with all that fighting stuff.

Uh, no.

They do love each other...so, so much. But man can they push the other's buttons. They are completely different in personality. Sharing a room {which Jase and I think is a good thing for them} has been a major thorn in Kennedy's flesh for the last two years. To that I say, "oh, well." They'll have to figure it all out for themselves. It's good for kids to not be given everything they want or to be catered to 24/7. Life has to hurt a tad when you're young so you can deal with it when you're older, right?

Ah, but for now...we have the contract. It's hanging on the fridge lest anyone forget the schedule. It's June 20th, maybe we will make it through the summer.
